Description

Specifications

Power Adhesives Spraytec 420 spray hot melt adhesive is a high-performance, extended-open-time 43 mm hot melt adhesive formulated primarily for spray application. It is suitable for bonding packaging foams, bubble film, vacuum-formed mouldings, upholstery foams, cotton-backed vinyl and many other fabrics.

Spraytec 420 is a synthetic polymer-based hot melt adhesive with an open time of up to 3 minutes. The extended open time provides additional time for positioning and adjusting larger components and materials before the bond is completed.

In addition to spraying, the adhesive can be applied in bead or dot form. When used this way, Spraytec 420 can achieve good bonds on most plastics. Polypropylene, including materials such as Corex, can be bonded when the adhesive is applied at temperatures above 200°C. At these elevated temperatures, the manufacturer advises against leaving the equipment switched on and unused for extended periods to avoid adhesive melt-back.

The 43 mm adhesive format measures 43 × 43 mm, with approximately 18 pieces per kilogram. Carton quantity is 10 kg.

The standard suggested application temperature is 180–195°C. Brookfield viscosity is 4500 cP, ring-and-ball softening point is 105°C, and heat resistance is 90°C. Low-temperature flexibility (Tg) is –13°C.

According to the manufacturer, the constituent parts of the adhesive comply with applicable FDA requirements under 21 CFR 175.105, subject to its stated limitations. This should not be interpreted as unrestricted approval for direct food contact.

Applications & Usage

Spraytec 420 hot melt adhesive is primarily intended for spray bonding larger, lightweight materials where extended open time helps with accurate positioning. Typical substrates include packaging foam, bubble film, upholstery foam, vacuum-formed mouldings, cotton-backed vinyl and fabrics.

The standard suggested application temperature is 180–195°C. For the 43 mm format, the manufacturer's technical information lists applicators including TEC 3150-43, TEC 3200-43, TEC 6100-43, TEC 6300-43, TEC 7100-43 and TEC 7300-43, as well as suitable hot melt systems.

For plastics, the adhesive can be applied in bead or dot form. Polypropylene, including Corex, can be bonded by applying the adhesive above 200°C. At these higher temperatures, the applicator should not be left switched on and unused for extended periods.
